Your mission
As a Software Designer, you shape the software that brings our nanoimprint equipment to life. You work at system level, defining how the software is structured, how different parts of the machine interact, and how the software evolves as our technology grows. This role is about setting technical direction, not just programming. From early design phases through to commissioning, you are closely involved in the full lifecycle of our machines. With a strong focus on software design, structure, and technical leadership, you guide the team through complex technical changes.
Responsibilities
Define, own and develop the software of our nanoimprint machines
Hardware oriented programming (PLC / Structured Text, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Python)
Act as technical lead and make and guide the team in software design decisions. Ensure specifications, test plans, and test results are well documented and reviewed
Formulate the software project plan and report on performance, together with the Project Manager and other parties concerned based on requirements
Support testing and commissioning new machines and act as escalation point for complex issues
Drive a First Time Right approach through a clear action plan and diagnosis in case of problems
Handles complaints & escalations to ensure accurate and timely analysis, registration and action
Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and assembling partners inside and outside SCIL
Ensure software designs and decisions are clearly documented
Your expertise and qualities
Bachelor’s degree in a control software, electrical or industrial automation, mechatronics or a related field;
7+ years of experience working on complex machines in multidisciplinary projects;
Proficiency in structured text programming (Beckhof/Twincat is a plus);
Proficiency in Object Orient programming and Python (C++ and Csharp is a plus)
Able to define and specify SW designs;
Experience in technical leadership, or guiding others;
Hands‑on mindset combined with system‑level thinking;
Strong technical skills; able to understand electrical, mechanical and pneumatic drawings in order to diagnose problems;
Affinity with innovative development projects and comfortable with dealing with projects with relatively vague requirements to well defined project;
Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus);
Team player with strong communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude;
Feel challenged working with uncertainty in a fast paced start-up environment;
